Just Stay Focused!

Some great people and extraordinarily successful professionals shared their views and strategies they apply to stay focused at the time of chaos and don’t let the excessive thinking over power them. Let’s meet these amazing people.

The Best Blogger of Pakistan, Syed Asghar Javed Shirazi, told,  “You can control your thoughts. But for that you need to know your thoughts. When you know, you choose which thoughts to focus. When you focus on thoughts that are harmful to you, they appear everywhere. If you focus on negativity, you will see negative things everywhere in your life. On the other hand, when you focus on positives, your mind will see blissful things everywhere. It really has to be you and no one else to stop excessive (harmful) thinking. No one else.”
My Love Blogger friend, Sajini Chandrasekera added, “I am a mother, wife, daughter, sister and a friend and playing all roles in together. Sometimes it is difficult, and being a writer I need a lot of peace of mind. Often in life we get the habit of thinking too much of issues which barely play a big role in life, but what matters is something strong makes us think of it. If we really think of it, I think we don’t get worried or think of issues that are not connected to us. We think of things which are related to others who are linked to us somewhere in our life.
If a friend is in trouble we offer to help but if your best friend is in trouble we keep on thinking how to get her out of trouble and would do anything we can to help, and yes during this procedure we may lose sight of our own path and get distracted but it will be temporarily and in the end you’ll be happy knowing you did your best to get your best friend out of trouble….
But some distractions in life may cripple you in long term and sometimes it’s so hard to concentrate on your own work. May be it’s not the person closes to you but someone in a distance can emotionally haunt you….maybe it’s due to attraction or love and even for a shorter period you may get distracted on your daily routine. So I think there are numerous reasons to get distracted in life but what’s important is not to let them come across your daily life routine.
We may have different solutions and each of them may be varied to the other. I think the best way is to sort out what’s distracting you. If it’s an issue with a certain person, I think it’s best to talk it over with that person and sort out things …it will not only make you focus but also will give you peace of mind as well.
But to some level we do need pointless thinking as well as it makes us remember that we are still human and not programmed robots.”
A great educationist, Salma Manzoor Laleka, shared: “I think one should train our mind to remain blank for a while so that when you jerk back you can start anew…. Have some reminders and caution words in sight to bring you back and also perhaps one can learn to love one’s work as a passion instead of taking it simply as work (boring)!”
A Child Psychologist at Lahore Institute of Special Care and Attention,, Xam Xaffa, told about astrategy to control pointless excessive thinking.
You write them down. All of it. Get it out of your system. Write, or talk; be it self-talk or to a person you trust.
Only then can you make sense of it. And be productive.”
A Trainee CEO & Team Leader at Ebizz World, Tahir Akbar contributed:
I personally have followed the following tips for avoiding that:

Make yourself realize the ‘importance’ of the tasks you are doing. This will gradually minimize detraction from the work.

Think about the reward you get from work and also estimate the possible loss of not doing it on time.
Reward yourself for everything you do, no matter how small it is. I usually go out for dinner if I complete a landmark.

Learn to prioritize things. In this regard, we can read good books on time-management and prioritization. Articles of Brian Tracy, Zig Ziglar etc. can be of extreme help.

Another Blogger, business person and an ambitious student, Irum Salam, said:  I can simply recite ayt-ul-kursi and rab-e-zidin-ilma before starting studies, and  it maintains my focus throughout the study hours (Religion is a huge support).
